I visited the first day of the reception. Lots of excellent oil paintings. There was a full room of them, and a large crowd. There will be another reception day on Sunday. My preference is landscapes, and the majority of the paintings were these. The sizes went from miniature to wall-filling, so not just for one location or venue. I really enjoyed the event. It is at the Jackson Street Gallery in Ridgeland, MS.

Miss. Oil Painters Club Reception

Pacesetter Gallery
The Miss. Artists Guild held its monthly meeting at Pacesetter Gallery this month. It is located on Lakeland Drive in Rankin County. The gallery is about six months old so far. The artwork tends more toward abstract and landscape, with a smaller amount of realism. The owner is also an artist. It is a very enjoyable experience, not too formal. There is also a certain amount of pottery and jewelry. There was enough room for the Guild seating, but I am not sure where the next seated meeting will be. The Guild does have an upcoming show in February at Jackson Prep on Lakeland Drive. That will be our meeting night. I will have two paintings in that show.

Jackson Street Gallery
Visited the reception at this gallery in November. The Oil Painters Association was having a show there. I had never been to this gallery before. There was a large crowd of enthusiastic people. Enjoyed the art work, all very lovely, most with similar frames. All together now. We got to vote on peoples choice painting, and it was difficult to decide, with so many excellent oil paintings.

Fondren Unwrapped
Last week I visited Fondren Unwrapped in Jackson. The art gallery Brown's had lots of
fine paintings. Also I went through Interiors Market, which had quite a few paintings,
new and old. Several stores were open for this evening event, such as Hunt's and the
stationery store. The weather was perfect, and there was a moderate crowd. Strolling
around for an hour or so was very pleasant.

Bridgewater II
It is 2021 and I survived 2020! Now I have both vaccine shots against Covid. So I am looking for places to go and things to do. In March I visited the Bridgewater art event in Ridgeland. Some people I know were in it, so I bought a little bit from the show. It was such a relief to get out and briefly chat with people. The vendors seemed to have many pieces of similar items in their displays, not much variety. I guess that it is considered that uniformity is a good thing - too much variety can be confusing. I hope to find more events this year.
