MS Museum of Art
Recently I visited the MS Museum of Art in Jackson for the bicentennial exhibit of Mississippi. It contained art works both instate and on loan from out of state locations, subject Mississippi. They were Mississippi artists. My favorites were all the landscapes, the George Ohr pottery, and the Triple Elvis print by Warhol. Also next door I visited the Art Center with some paintings and the exhibit of ballet tutus. It was all so refreshing and interesting. I had not seen a lot of those paintings before. The tutus were fantastically beautiful, too.

Two Museums
I visited the Miss. Museum of History and the Miss. Civil Rights Museum this week. Both were very informative and had much illustration and objects. It required about two hours to walk through them. In the Miss. history one, there were some artists represented, famous ones, such as Anderson, Dunlap, Mohamed, Ohr, etc. I enjoyed the museums. I recommend them.

Lakeshore Park Show
Today I visited this small arts and crafts show in Brandon, MS. There were about 20 booths of mostly crafts, with three painters. The paintings were good, some small, one with large to midsize ones. The weather was clear but windy. I bought some craft food items. Doesn't seem like the show that I would enter, but it was a nice change from store products. Best items seemed to be wood.

Autumn Arts and Crafts Shows
This September I have entered two events: Big Black River Festival in West, MS, and Grenada Downtown Jubilee in Grenada, MS. Sold three paintings. It is my fourth trip to West, and they always seem happy to see me. Grenada was my first event there. Overall the people and experience were good, and finally at the end of the day I sold a painting. The weather was warm for both weekends, with no rain, so that was a plus. There was a fairly good crowd for both events. Now I go into two events closer to home, indoor shows. Hopefully the rest of the autumn will be as pleasant as September has been.

Trying to Find Events
It is difficult to find arts and crafts shows to enter these days. Some have disappeared, and many have raised their entry fees quite a lot. I can't enter any in the spring, because of seasonal job, which I need. There aren't many in the summer instate, so I must concentrate on autumn. I wish I could find an event out of state as I did last year, but most of them are huge, not for me. I will keep trying.

Spectacles Spring Show
The Miss. Artists Guild show at Spectacles in Highland Village, in Jackson, Mississippi is on, April and May 2017. I was happy to get an Honorable Mention for my ink and watercolor painting, Wagon Waiting. The reception was lots of fun, with a band and food. Spectacles is very enjoyable for us. We hope that many people will drop by and see the show.

Mississippi Light Festival
This event was at the Miss. Museum of Art location in Jackson. It had thousands of people to view and participate in the displays and events. Mine was four glow-painted panels with LED lights. There were all sorts of exhibits, including a drone, virtual viewing, light dancers, etc. The Arts Center nearby had demonstrations by STEM students of various light related activities. Also there were some paintings that were seen in the dark as people walked through. Three Miss. Artists Guild members including me had exhibits in the show. Next year a larger festival is contemplated, and that would be wonderful.
